Introduction
A paralegal or legal assistant is qualified by education, training, or work experience and employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, government agency, or other entity. Paralegals perform specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible.
The paralegal studies program offers a two-year, full-time curriculum that allows a student to graduate and enter the paralegal profession under an attorney's supervision in the private or public sector with an associate of applied science degree. Many students, after earning a paralegal studies degree, continue to complete four-year degrees. Some even continue to law school to become licensed attorneys.
