Introduction
The Photography associate degree program prepares students for employment in the diverse and growing field of photography. The Photography associate degree program provides learning opportunities that introduce, develop, and reinforce academic and occupational knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. Additionally, the program provides opportunities to upgrade present knowledge and skills or retrain in photography. Graduates of the program receive a Photography Associate of Applied Science Degree.
The NGTC photography program has a well-deserved reputation for excellence. In the last five years, students have won bronze, silver, and gold in the Skills USA competition, not just in the state but also in the nation. Our program motto states, ‘practical skills for real-world jobs,’ and our diploma and associate degree programs do just that, prepare you for work and teach everything you need to make it in the real world.
Courses cover the fundamentals of photography and students gain experience in a wide range of photographic specialities, including portraiture, lifestyle, commercial, nature, multimedia, and photojournalism.
Also, students learn essential Photoshop skills, produce a professional portfolio, complete a business plan, and introduce design and marketing.
Our facilities are second to none, with over 6,000 sq. ft. of studio space, computer lab, print room, amphitheatre, and classrooms. We are equipped with a full range of studio lighting and support Nikon and Canon based camera systems with additional lenses available to loan.
Overall costs, including all books and equipment, are substantially less than almost any other photography program, and most students are eligible for the Hope Scholarship or the Hope Grant. You can be sure to leave with a qualification designed to further your career and not a difficult student loan.
