Graduate Pathway in Software Engineering
Students who successfully complete an INTO Mason Graduate Pathway program in Software Engineering are assured progression to a Mason graduate degree program upon submission of additional required application materials.
Upon successful completion of an INTO Mason Pathway program and meeting university requirements for graduate admission, you may enter your second semester of graduate study at George Mason University. This transition from an INTO Mason Pathway program to a university degree program is called progression.

Entry requirements
1-semester
- Academic requirements: Four-year undergraduate degree or equivalent in computer science or a related field. The degree must include Data Structures and Algorithms, Automata Theory and Formal Languages and Computer Architecture, including Assembly Language. Students also must have completed Calculus I and II and a substantial course in discrete mathematics. 2.75 undergraduate GPA equivalent.
- English language requirements: TOEFL iBT 75, IELTS 6.0, PTEA 52, Completion of AE Core and OCS Level 6, or IELA 169 Overall.
- Age requirements: 17 years and above.
2-semester
- Academic requirements: Four-year undergraduate degree or equivalent in computer science or a related field. The degree must include Data Structures and Algorithms, Automata Theory and Formal Languages and Computer Architecture, including Assembly Language. Students also must have completed Calculus I and II and a substantial course in discrete mathematics. 2.75 undergraduate GPA equivalent.
- English language requirements: TOEFL iBT 65, IELTS 5.5, PTEA 44, Password: 6.0 Knowledge and 5.0 Writing, Completion of AE Core and OCS Level 5, or IELA 162.
- Age requirements: 17 years and above.
