Introduction
Objects symbolise existing social relations. By existing in the world, they also reinforce the power, systems and institutions of those who made them. We all want to live in a world that is more equal and just. Architecture is dedicated to material reality (its analysis and design), and the production of space (how power and social relations occur in a place through time).
We can use architecture to intervene in the everyday, to shape the normal and to construct new societies. Our particular focus is the domestic sphere.
DIP6 will give you a method and framework for design. We will give you an education that touches on everything from labour, gender and cultural theory, to art direction and representational techniques. We will give you all the tools. What you do with them is up to you. As a unit, we will support you to pursue your own thesis. The unit is for students who have a dream and desire. Join us to do the project that no one else has encouraged you to do before. Working on deep adaptation last year prepared us for this strange reality. We understand how to be ready for the unpredictable. From the security of a clear framework, and by developing specific knowledge and abilities, we will give you autonomy to intervene in reality.
