Cisco CCNA
About
As the Cisco regional academy for Malta, STC Higher Education has been providing CCNA courses locally since 2003.
Earning a Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching Certification is the best way for you to prepare for a successful career in networking.
As Enterprises migrate toward controller-based architectures, the role and skills required of a core network engineer are evolving and more vital than ever. To prepare for this network transition, the CCNA Routing and Switching certification will not only prepare you with the knowledge of foundational technologies but ensure you stay relevant with skill sets needed for the adoption of next generation technologies.
The Cisco Certified Network Associate course covers a comprehensive range of networking topics, from fundamentals to advanced applications and services, while providing opportunities for hands-on practical experience and soft-skills development.
The curriculum consists of four modules (semesters):
1. Introduction to Networks (Network Fundamentals)
Following a top-down approach, the first course introduces applications and application services very early in the curriculum to provide a foundation. Advanced technologies (voice, video, wireless, and security) are also introduced.
2. Routing and Switching (Routing Protocols and Concepts)
3. Scaling Networks (LAN Switching and Wireless)
Routing and switching topics and concepts are grouped to allow for a higher level of flexibility in the course delivery. All routing topics are covered in the Routing Protocols and Concepts course and all switching topics are covered in the LAN Switching and Wireless course. These courses can be taught either in sequence or simultaneously.
4. Connecting Networks (Accessing the WAN)
The last course, Accessing the Wan, thoroughly covers all WAN technologies.
All 4 modules include advanced and challenging labs and activities which encapsulate hands-on sessions on actual hardware (Cisco Routers and Switches) as well as making use of the Packet Tracer network virtualization software. These coherently allow students to visualize and gain an in-depth hands-on experience with the application protocols and services introduced in the course.
