Rhino (CAD) for Jewellery

During this course, you will be introduced to a range of modelling techniques using the computer-aided design (CAD) software Rhino. At the end of the course, you will have a solid foundation of core basic solid modelling tools for creating jewellery in CAD, as well as how to take existing jewelry-making knowledge into tolerances for producing 3D models usable for 3D printing and jewellery manufacturing.
Description:
- Introduction to CAD/CAM
- Introduction to Rhino interface
- Layers, snaps and O-snaps
- Building objects with curves (explode, join, rebuild, split, trim, fillet, offset)
- Transformation commands (move, rotate, scale, mirror)
- Basics of solid modelling
- Basics of organic modelling
- Universal Deformation Tools and their application
- Preparing a file for rapid prototyping
Level: Intermediate (with proven experience in some jewellery manufacturing)
Entry Requirements:
- Basic computer literacy level
- Have beginner jewellery manufacturing skills or
- Have completed the summer course “Jewellery Manufacturing for Beginners”

- Pencils
- Eraser

Fee: £600 – new learners
Qualification
Successful completion of this course earns the student a British Academy of Jewellery Official Certificate of Completion.
