Introduction
Quality cancer data is central to the nation’s fight against this disease, and cancer registrars are the first link in capturing that data. The online Cancer Registry Management certificate program at Andrew College is designed to provide the educational background you need to work and obtain certification in this growing field.
Cancer registrars serve as data information specialists, most frequently working in hospitals. Professionals in the field forward the mission of capturing a complete history, diagnosis, treatment, and health status for every cancer patient in the U.S. The data provide essential information to researchers, healthcare providers, and public health officials to better monitor and advance cancer treatments, conduct research, and improve cancer prevention and screening programs.
Students completing the program will receive a Certificate of Cancer Registry Management. They will be eligible to sit for the Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) provided they also have an Associate’s Degree or the equivalent in other college course work.
The online Certificate of Cancer Registry Management is a 24 semester hour program. It may be completed in as little as one year, assuming full-time enrollment and the completion of pre-requisite requirements. The program also may be completed on a part-time basis, and students taking a minimum of 6 semester hours may be eligible for financial assistance.
Both the Associate of Science in Cancer Registry Management and the Certificate Program in Cancer Registry Management curriculum plans meet licensure or certification requirements in all 50 states of the United States.
