The Electrical Techniques program helps students build the skills required for a career in the electrical industry. Students will gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice in electrical fundamentals. During the program, students can develop the basic skills required to become electrical apprentices. This program is the first step towards such a career as a professional tradesperson. Students are also introduced to the fundamental elements of the trade (e.g. regulations and practices).

In keeping with Ministry and the Ontario College of Trades standards, the program will deliver content that meets the requirements for Level 1 in-school Electrician apprenticeship (309A/442A) training.

Program Highlights

Electrical Techniques is a two-semester Ontario College Certificate program, which will teach students how electricity works, how to apply Canadian Electrical Code, read blueprints, and perform electrical installations in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. The faculty will instruct students in dedicated state-of-the-art electrical labs. The Electrical Techniques program creates pathways for students if they decide to continue their education at Centennial College. The Electrical Techniques program is a great choice for students who want to explore the career opportunities that the skilled trades have to offer, get job-ready skills or pursue a passion for electrical technology.
