Introduction

Kolej Universiti Islam Melaka, better known as KUIM, is a wholly-owned Institution of Higher Learning for the Malacca State Government established under the IPTS Act 1996. The State Government's efforts to drive education excellence in tandem with the objectives of Melaka Maju 2010, KUIM was upgraded to University College on 1 July 2009 by the Ministry of Higher Education. Formerly KUIM, formerly known as The International Islamic Technology College of Malacca (KTIAM), has made a paradigm shift in introducing a new platform for education, a combination of Islamic studies integrated with science applied with psychological discipline in tandem.

As an effort to rebrand, KUIM has placed its niche-area in psychology, where it is the first private Islamic university college in Malaysia to develop studies focusing on psychology at the degree level as interventions reduce psychological problems among individuals and communities while meeting the demands of the workforce in various public and private sectors. Accordingly, KUIM continues to move as the "Gateway of Human Psychology Studies",, which continues to be based on a clear mission and vision to meet the many challenges and changes. The philosophy of study that combines elements ofimity, academic and vocational (worldly and ukhrawi) to produce conscious and progressive groups who coincide with the desire and goals of the Malacca State Government that wants a generation of knowledge and ability in various fields of Islamic studies, technology, social sciences and knowledge. To ensure that KUIM continues to excel in tandem with the Motto brought "Core Quality of Success", so programmes offered across a wide range of knowledge disciplines, including Islamic studies, business studies, Islamic banking, sharia law, nursing, biotechnology, and information technology are competitive and competitive that meet the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) certificate. The internationalization of KUIM through local and overseas academic networks can be proud when KUIM now owns international students from Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Singapore and Indonesia, which increase year-on-year. Even the delivery of KUIM students who pursue studies to Egypt, Jordon, Morocco and other countries in the Middle East is overwhelming. With KUIM's commendable performance and achievements, KUIM is committed to becoming an international higher education centre of Islam, science and technology.
