For students in their penultimate or final year of high school.

Social Activities

To ensure your experience at the University of Edinburgh's Summer School is memorable, we encourage students to embrace the city and its culture and take part in the variety of social activities available.

These could range from city tours where you’ll explore Edinburgh’s most popular attractions, as well as discovering its hidden gems, to being shown the spooky side of town in ghost tours.

Indulging in an afternoon tea can be a great way to socialize and immerse in the culture of this beautiful city, or why not join in a Ceilidh event, a traditional community gathering filled with music, dance and fun!

Please note that social activities are subject to change and will depend on availability and Government guidance at the time. However, we promise to offer you as much fun as we can!

Campus Features

The capital city

At the University of Edinburgh Summer School, you'll be based in the heart of the city and will have the chance to spend time exploring the historic and vibrant capital of Scotland.

Edinburgh is easy to get around, on foot or by using our great network of buses, trams or trains. Although our city is compact, it's also bustling with so much to offer any visitor. With a large collection of historic buildings and green spaces, it’s easy to see why parts of the city have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There are also a huge number of museums, art galleries and theatres to feed the culture vulture in you while you are here!

In short, there is so much to keep you entertained in Edinburgh once you've finished your studies for the day; whether shopping or eating out is your bag, or you're looking for something sporty to do in your free time - it's all here!

Accommodation

Please note, Pre-University students will have catered accommodation provided as standard, and this is included in the course fee.

For all other Summer School courses, students can request an accommodation when completing their course application. The following accommodation is offered:

  • Accommodation will be in University of Edinburgh halls of residence, and places are limited. As such, we cannot guarantee availability and places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
  • Accommodation bookings will begin the Saturday prior to the course start date and finish the Saturday following the course end date. We are unable to offer alternative check-in/checkout dates, unfortunately.
  • If your preferred choice of accommodation is not available, we will contact you and provide alternatives. If we can provide you with an accommodation placement, details will be included in your course booking confirmation and payment will be due at the same time as your course fee.
